Baan Sao Nak house

Baan Sao Nak is an old wooden house located on Rat Wattana Road in Lampang province. Built in 1895, the house is now classified as a private museum.

Baan Sao Nak houses antiques, woven crafts, silverware, and ceramics, as well as a variety of objects and furniture used in the past.

The architecture of the house is a clever blend of Burmese and Lanna (northern Thailand) styles. You will notice the difference between the Burmese-style balcony and the overall Lanna-style appearance of the building.

History of Baan Sao Nak House

The house was built in 1895 by Mong U San Ogn, a Burmese teak merchant. The pillars found throughout the residence were reinforced in 1960. In the 1980s, the house regularly hosted receptions and auspicious ceremonies.

The balcony is influenced by Myanmar architecture, while the roof and general structure of the house are built in the Lanna style.

Before entering the residence, you cannot miss the huge 133-year-old Saraphi tree. Inside, you will discover many old objects that were once used daily, as well as the furniture. Photos recall the family who lived there and its owners.
