Thong Pha Phum National Park

Established in 2009, this protected area of 1236 square kilometers is Thailand’s 114th national park. The nature reserve is bordered by two provinces: Kanchanaburi and Phetchaburi. It is part of the Western Forest Complex. The park is renowned for its wild expanses, dotted with waterfalls, caves, mountains, and rivers. It is teeming with life and boasts exceptional landscapes. This protected area attracts many eco-tourists and trekking enthusiasts every year.

Where is the park headquarters located?

The entrance and the park office are located in western Thailand, in Kanchanaburi Province. Here, you will find an orientation center, restaurants, shops, and various accommodation options. Visitors can bring their tents and camp on-site.

Eclectic wildlife

The park is a paradise for animals. This nature reserve is connected with the forests of Myanmar, Kaeng Krachan National Park, and Sai Yok National Park. Many mammals and birds have made it their home and live peacefully in their respective habitats. Activities at Thong Pha Phum National Park

At the park, early risers are rewarded with a wonderful view from elevated areas like Doi Tong Palae. Before 5 a.m., they can witness stunning seas of clouds. Sunrises and sunsets are memorable. The high atmosphere is free from light pollution. At night, constellations shine brightly.

Accompanied by guides, hiking enthusiasts can explore the park’s forests and reach remote jungle areas. The reserve also has trails for cyclists.

Thong Pha Phum National Park is known for its magnificent waterfalls. Among the most famous are Namtok ChetMit, Namtok Chokkadin, and Namtok Pha Pae.

With several caves, the nature reserve is ideal for spelunking. Explore the caverns and discover many intact stalagmites and stalactites.

Entrance fee

To visit the park, plan to pay 200 baht per adult and 100 baht per child.

The best time to visit

The hot season is between February and April. This is the best time to observe wildlife, as they are visible at the park’s water sources.

Visiting during the winter is also possible. The landscape changes harmoniously during this period, which generally runs from November to January.

How to get there

Thong Pha Phum National Park is accessible by car. More economical, public transport is the preferred mode of travel for local tourists. They first take bus 8203 to Amphoe Thong Pha Phum district. From there, they reach the park entrance by songthaew.

Within a 10-kilometer radius of the protected area, you can find many attractions, such as Jok Kradin Waterfall or Khuen Srinagarindra National Park.
