At 4,884 m, the Carstensz Pyramid (or "Puncak Jaya" as called by the Indonesians) is the highest peak in Indonesia and Oceania. As such, it is one of the mythical "7 Summits" that every mountaineer dreams of climbing.

  • Welcome services at Timika airport and transfer to your hotel. First briefing, in the early afternoon, to describe the forthcoming expedition and provide with the best advice. Time is also set aside to prepare the logistics of the expedition (documents, equipment, etc.).

Day 3Yellow Valley's Base Camp

  • Transfer just before dawn to the airport and helicopter flight to the Yellow Valley (4,300 m). Welcome services by your mountain guide, who’ll help you settling in at base camp. The rest of the day is free for acclimatization.

  • Another day of acclimatization, during which you will do some climbing exercises. In particular, you will do a simulation at the foot of the Carstensz peak. There is also the option of climbing the Nggapulu peak (Puncak Sukarno). The rest of the day is free.

  • In the middle of the night, after getting kitted out, you set off - at around 2 am - to climb the Carstensz pyramid. You reach the summit in the late morning and return to base camp in the afternoon for a well-earned rest.

  • Your last day in Papua is devoted to a meeting with the Kamoro tribes, who will welcome you with traditional dances. This day is organized in support of the Temata Foundation, which helps the local population.
