History of Warorot Market

Warorot Market was established in 1910, with its foundations laid by Princess Dara Rasmi. She named the site Chao Inthawaroros Suriyawongse in honor of the illustrious King Intavaroros Suriyavongse.

Warorot Market did not see much traffic at first. However, it prospered with the establishment of trade between Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Ships docked right next to the market, on the banks of the Ping River.
