Shanghai Mansion

Situated in the Chinatown district, the 4-star Shanghai Mansion hotel has the honor of welcoming transient guests to Bangkok. Its themed rooms and restaurant reflect 1930s China.

Shanghai Mansion, a prestigious Art deco-style hotel

Internationally-class hotels flourish in Bangkok. Dreaming of a unique experience? Shanghai Mansion Bangkok is a great choice for a romantic getaway. It opened its doors in the heart of Chinatown, an iconic Chinese district of Bangkok. After crossing the red bridge leading to Shanghai Mansion, you'll be transported to 1930s Shanghai. The Chinese atmosphere is evident not only in the murals and furnishings but also in the à la carte menus of the Red Rose restaurant, which takes you back to the roots of Chinese cuisine. Explore the golden shops of Chinatown, some dating back to the 1880s. Savor the hotel's signature dish, beloved by the emperors of Shanghai themselves. End the evening in style at a trendy nightclub. Wellness enthusiasts will find satisfaction in the hotel's Burasari spa treatments. Advertisement aside, Shanghai Mansion is one of the best addresses for a different kind of travel experience in Bangkok.

Where is the hotel located?

Getting to Shanghai Mansion has never been easier. It's within walking distance of the MRT Hua Lamphong metro station; but since the opening of a new station opposite Wat Mangkon, the journey is even shorter. It's located on Yaowarat Road, known for its fish markets, food stalls, and Asian medicine cabinets, where the establishment welcomes its regulars. A bilingual team will handle your reservations and inquiries. Pets are not allowed on the property.

Looking for a charming hotel in the Chinatown District? Here's the address to remember: 479–481 Yaowarat Rd., Samphanthawong, 10100 Bangkok, Thailand.

Cosy and friendly rooms

Guests will be royally accommodated at Shanghai Mansion. The owner acquired the building in 1892 and renovated it to make it a tourist accommodation. A color television with remote control, a DVD player, and tea and coffee-making facilities provide comfort. We love the shiny silk drapes, brightly colored curtains, patterned pillows, and elegant furniture. The Shanghai theme is faithfully adhered to.

Deluxe rooms differ from standard rooms in that they have a separate swivel bathtub from the shower cubicle. To access the high class, you'll need to book a Mu Dan suite or a family suite.

Tourist attractions near the hotel

Chinatown has a rather endearing history, as it welcomed the first Chinese immigrants to Thailand. Although most of them dispersed to Bangkok's suburbs and the Chinese community assimilated into the Thai population, the neighborhood retained its old-time atmosphere.

Many cultural landmarks are worth visiting:

  • The Chinatown Gate, the monumental entrance gate;
  • The Guanyin Goddess Shrine
  • Wat Mangkon;
  • Wat Traimit and its impressive golden Buddha;
  • The Yaowarat Chinatown Centre Heritage.

Don't miss the cafes and tea houses on Yaowarat Street. Whether you're a night owl or an early riser, lively bars along the Chao Phraya River await. A shuttle service is graciously provided for you to explore the city's points of interest.

Dine like the Shanghai Emperors

From delicious Peking duck to sweet and sour stir-fried shrimp to sea cucumber soup seasoned with abalone, dried scallops, ginseng, and Chinese herbs, the chefs' culinary recipes will delight your palate. Enjoy your breakfast in the Cotton Club dining room. It's presented as a three-course buffet preceded by a cup of French coffee or espresso infusion. Lunch and dinner are served at the Red Rose restaurant. To combine musical relaxation with dining pleasure, spend the evening on the outdoor terrace and enjoy the jazz band's music concert.

Sawa'Discovery review

-We wholeheartedly recommend Shanghai Mansion for its themed décor that immerses you in Shanghai. History and authenticity-seeking tourists will enjoy it;

-There is no on-site parking, but it's only a slight inconvenience as parking nearby is easy. Most importantly, the nearest metro station is just 350 meters away. Shanghai Mansion's location in the heart of Chinatown allows travelers to get around quickly without breaking the bank.
