Since 2011, a young Thai couple has abandoned their careers in advertising to renovate an old wooden stilt house. Located within the grounds of a large temple directly on the banks of the Chao Phraya River that runs through Bangkok, the house features 4 beautiful riverside rooms and another room at the back (a dormitory-style room for large families). A 10-minute walk from Chinatown, it's a magical place to explore both the old Sino-Portuguese quarters on the right bank of Bangkok and the city's waterways with their bustling long-tail taxi boats, water buses, public ferries, tugs, and heavily laden barges.
