With its four elegant rooms furnished with Thai antiques, Baanthep Antique Homestay welcomes you during your stay in Phrae. A perfect retreat for spending one or two days in the old town.

Baanthep Antique Homestay: four homestay rooms in Phrae's old town

Phrae nestles at the foot of a mountain range separating northern Thailand from Laos. There’s nothing like a friendly guesthouse to explore Phrae's highlights. Who wouldn't want to hike through its rice fields? Who wouldn't enjoy climbing its hill temples and sharing smiles with its locals? Indeed, Baanthep Antique Homestay is one of the best tourist accommodations in the province. Although recently opened and officially rated only two stars, its polished teakwood rooms are clean and spacious. Featuring flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms, they cater to your comfort needs. What truly sets this establishment apart is its collection of antique items amassed by the manager over the years. Sculptures, porcelain, solid gold armchairs, and art objects inherited over generations… If you're visiting Phrae, don't miss out on Baanthep Antique Homestay.

Where is the guesthouse located?

Baanthep Antique Homestay is situated near downtown Phrae, specifically a 10-minute walk away. It's about 3 km from Phrae Airport to the establishment. Due to limited capacity, advance booking is recommended. The guesthouse allows pets, with a limit of two per room.

Guests can relax in the shared lounge. An American-style kitchen is available, equipped with a kettle, oven, and microwave. For breakfast, the owner serves delicious Thai or European dishes.

Nearby attractions to Baanthep Antique Homestay

Interestingly, the house itself serves as a private museum filled with historically and artistically valuable pieces. These items once belonged to wealthy family members and prominent figures in Phrae before being transferred to the museum. Elephant fountains, fine gold furniture, and antique toy cabinets are among the items on display inside. Not far from Baanthep Antique Homestay, another museum, the Seri Thai Museum, is also worth visiting.

Sawa'Discovery review

  • An affordable accommodation option for couples and young backpackers exploring central and northern Thailand;
  • The antique collection is the main selling point of the establishment.
  • It's possible to visit the collection only if you're not staying overnight.
