Anja village reserve

The Anja Community Reserve is a protected natural reserve established in 1999 under Malagasy legislation. Covering 30 hectares, it is located 13 km south of Ambalavao, along the RN7 highway. This protected area was created through the initiative of the local village community to preserve the environment.

The reserve is managed by a local association that has retained its independence from the organization overseeing Madagascar’s large national parks. Approximately 300 villagers are involved in managing the reserve, working as guides, trackers, administrators, and in other roles.
