Day 4Yoga & spirituality

Day 4Yoga & spirituality

  • The morning is dedicated a typical yoga Balinese session. To the sound of a chant (the Tri Sandya Mantra – considered an oral literature in the form of magical poetry, the Tri Sandya Mantra has been passed down orally in Bali and consists of six verses), a Balinese priest will then introduce you to the techniques of Balinese Hindu spirituality, starting with the creation of canang sari, the traditional Balinese offerings commonly seen in temples, on sidewalks, and elsewhere.

The goal is to involve you in a purification ceremony called Melukat. This is a tradition or ceremony commonly practiced by the Balinese to purify the soul of negative influences. The word Melukat itself comes from Sulukat, where Su means "good" and Lukat means "purification”

Day 5Balinese temple

Day 5Balinese temple

  • The morning is dedicated to a lovely walk through the jungle and rice terraces, discovering some nearby temples. First, you’ll visit Gunung Kawi Sebatu: unlike other famous temples in Bali, Gunung Kawi Sebatu is relatively peaceful and less crowded, offering a serene and harmonious setting amidst lush vegetation and terraced rice fields. The temple is distinguished by its beautiful water pools adorned with water lilies, lotus flowers, and colorful fish. These pools are fed by natural springs, and the water is considered sacred. The temple is dedicated to the deities of water and fertility, particularly Vishnu, the god of preservation. Next, you’ll head to Tirta Empul temple in Tampaksiring, one of the most sacred and iconic temples on the island. Founded in the 10th century under the Warmadewa dynasty, this temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu and is especially famous for its sacred water pools used for purification rituals.

Your hike will end at Gunung Kawi Tampaksiring Temple, an ancient sacred site located near the Pakerisan River. This temple is unique for its candis—large funerary shrines carved directly into the cliffs, dating back to the 11th century under the Warmadewa dynasty. These monumental sculptures, about seven meters tall, are believed to have been built to honor King Anak Wungsu and his royal family.

In the afternoon, your vehicle will take you to Goa Gajah temple, also known as the "Elephant Cave." A sacred and historic site, this temple dates back to the 9th century and serves as both a place of prayer and meditation, offering a mystical and captivating atmosphere. Although its name means "Elephant Cave," no elephants are found on the site; the name likely comes from one of the ancient carvings or its connection to Ganesh, the Hindu god with the elephant head. You’ll return to Sebatu in the late afternoon.

Day 7Hight plantations at altitude

  • This morning, you’ll head towards the caldera of Mount Batur (1,725m) ,through an area famous for its coffee plantations. From Penelokan, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the caldera, which stretches 14 km long. This impressive size is a testament to the volcano's tumultuous past, once possibly even larger than the current Agung. Below you, you’ll see the cone of Mount Batur, nestled in the middle of a vast caldera, half of which is occupied by Bali’s largest lake, and the other half covered by plantations and lava fields, remnants of the 1917 and 1926 eruptions. You’ll then descend into the caldera to get a closer look at the lava flows. Near the lake, where you can rest in preparation for tomorrow’s early wake-up, you’ll enjoy relaxing hot springs

Day 8Art in Motion: Sculpture & Painting

Day 8Art in Motion: Sculpture & Painting

  • On this final day of immersion into the heart of Balinese culture, you’ll discover the arts of sculpture and painting. Balinese sculpture is one of the most refined and distinctive aspects of the local culture, skilfully blending craftsmanship, spirituality, and aesthetic beauty. Rooted in centuries-old traditions, this art form can be seen throughout the island, whether in temples, palaces, homes, or even natural landscapes, where statues and reliefs adorn sacred sites and family shrines. As for Balinese painting, it’s a rich and diverse artistic expression, deeply rooted in spiritual culture and indigenous traditions, yet also influenced by cultural exchanges with the outside world. Balinese paintings are easily recognizable by their narrative style, intricate details, and vibrant color palette. This traditional and symbolic art, often inspired by mythology, Hindu epics, nature, and daily life, has been practiced for centuries and continues to evolve.
