Alwar, once was known as Ulwar, and it was founded by the member of Kachh family. It remained under the rule for a very long time and was ruled by Rajputs. Once the Mughals took over the reins there were many modifications, renovations and reformations that the city underwent.

With regards to the Mythological part of the city it tell us that once the Kauravas and the Pandavas fought on this land and a massive battle between the two acted as a base of the epic, the Mahabharata.

The medival era made the City Of Alwar rose to prominence because of its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, and it attracted the The Marathas, Mughals, Jats of Bharatpur, Nikumbha and Kachhawaha Rajputs and the British also laid their eyes on this city.

Once India attained independence the city of Alwar was merged with the princely states of Karauli, Bharatpur and Dholapur to collectively form a part of the state Of Rajasthan.
